Our Visit to The Woodlands

We just got back from a great visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Pops took care of Grey all weekend long, even taking over night time feeding duties!! It was great to finally sleep through the night...it's been a long time since I have done that! Linda Manning stopped by to visit on Friday and Ronny and Cricket came over on Sunday. We had fun seeing everyone!

My First Photo Shoot by Mom

So in the midst of unpacking boxes from moving, I decided to take a break from the chaos and take pictures of Grey. He had just woken up so he didn't mind me turning his head and trying to pose him. He is such a trooper! In the brief time I took them, I managed to take over 200 pictures - nice! After miraculously capturing a few good pictures, I realized that my auto focus was turned off so Grey had to redo the photo shoot the next morning. I don't think he minded, though, and the pictures from the second day were much better! It must have been from the practice he got the day before.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! We had a very busy Valentine's Day...we went shopping and then went to an early dinner to eat Mexican food. Grey got to hang out with Grandma Ju Ju earlier this week so Mommy and Daddy got to get an early Valentine's Day massage. The massage was much needed! Grey continues to wake up every 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. at night but is so sweet when he wakes up that we don't mind. So far he has been a great baby but we can't wait until he starts taking a bottle so we can go out of the house for longer than an hour :)

My First Road Trip

Grey, Grandma Ju Ju and I went to Austin to visit Mutta, Cricket, Bobby, Kristen and Robyn. Grey slept the whole 3 1/2 hours on the way to Austin and the way home - he did great! Mutta got to hold him a lot, which made her very happy. We had a great time!

It's a BOY!

Grey Harvey Mayfield arrived at 4:09 pm on January 27, 2009! Dan and I are both thrilled that he is here and are obsessed with him already :) I'll never forget hearing the doctor say "It's a boy!" and then looking at Dan - both of our eyes teared up with joy. As soon as I laid eyes on Grey my heart melted with love. My first words were "He looks like you, Dan!" He has Dan's eyes, nose and a head full of thick, thick hair. I think he has my lips and chin and long toes. He is perfect in every way...at least I think so :)

Dan and I got to the hospital around 6:00 am. We woke up extra early because Dallas was about to have an ice storm so we knew we would have to drive real slow. The doctors started to induce me around 6:50 am and by 10:30 am I was in "active labor". It was around this time that I got an epidural so it was painless from this point forward. In fact, Dan and I took a little nap and when the nurse came in to check on me, I was already 7 cm dialated. Around 3:15 pm Dr. Carter told me it was time to start. Not even an hour later Grey blessed us with his presence! I told the doctor I thought he would be born at 4:08 pm...I was a minute off :)

Dan was so excited when Grey was born. Before I knew it, he already had his cell phone out, took a picture of Grey and wanted to go share the news with our family before Grey was even 2 minutes old :)

Tomorrow is the BIG day!

Well, the time is finally here to meet the baby! Dan and I go to the hospital tomorrow at 6:00 am and I'll be induced around 7:00 am. It's crazy to think tomorrow we will be parents! All of our bags are packed and in the car so I think we are ready. Now it's just a matter of time before we meet our bundle of joy. I can't wait to find out if we have a son or daughter! I doubt I sleep tonight...I'm too excited :)
