Chirstmas Decorating

Earlier this month Grey, Dan and I decorated the Christmas tree and Grey thought it was fantastic! After every ornament he put on the tree, he would say excitedly, "I got it!". It was too cute! He thinks all the Christmas lights are amazing to look at and loves it when Dan and I take him on drives to look at the lights. It's going to be a fun Christmas this year! We taught him to say "ho ho ho" and now when he sees a Santa decoration, he immediately says it. Below are some pictures to enjoy :)

Just some pictures

Grey got sick last week at school and went through both pairs of change in clothes in his bag. When I picked him up, he was only wearing his shirt, socks and shoes....sad! He didn't mind showing off his legs a little though :)

....go to sleep ♪

So yesterday Grey did not take a nap until 4 pm and then decided he didn't want to go to bed last night because he took such a late nap. He was like a madman running around the house playing. Finally at 9:45 we threw him in bed with us because we were tired and we thought he would calm down. Nope - we were wrong! He was jumping all over the bed, messing with Spencer (who loves his sleep and does NOT want to be disturbed when he is in bed), and talking/singing for like another 30 minutes.

Although we were ready for him to just lay down and relax, he was pretty sweet. At one point he sat between me and Dan and rubbed both our backs at the same time and played with our hair. I think he was imitating what his teachers do to get the other kids at school to take naps. How can you get upset when he does stuff like this?! :)

Needless to say after 10:30 he finally laid down and fell asleep.

Happy Halloween/Birthday

Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday Dan! We got to celebrate Halloween in Dallas this year with a few friends/family. We started off with dinner and cake to celebrate Dan and Marcus's birthdays and then headed off to trick-or-treat around our house.

Grey was a puppy (he still says puppy 500 times a day) and he actually let us put on his costume this year, but then wanted it off!! After it was off, there was no putting it back on either so he ended up just wearing a skeleton t-shirt with black sweat pants. He still looked cute :) Luckily I took a few pictures of him with the costume on before he made us take it off.

Grey loved the candy! He broke into our stash before any kids came to the door and had about 3 blow pops and two M&M packets. His hands were sticky, the floors were sticky and he had chocolate all over his face! It was evident he loved the candy, which is why he did not want to eat his dinner. Can we say cavities?!?

He wasn't into going up to the doors to get the candy, though. I think he liked looking at all the decorations from a distance instead of up close and being towered by the big blow-up decorations. They scared him a little. It probably didn't help that two doors down from us our neighbor basically had a haunted house in his front yard. They go all out every year and this year they had a cemetery theme and bought a hearse, had moving mannequins dressed up as murdered people, coffins, smoke blowing everywhere, etc. It was amazing and pretty scary!

Overall I think Grey enjoyed handing out the candy to other kids and yelling "Halloween" to everyone the most. It was so cute to hear him say it because he really emphasized the "ween" part :)

Miss Sutton passed out before she got to get any candy :( She still looked cute as a pumpkin though!

Exciting Weekend

On October 21st, Grey's new cousin Noah arrived! He is a precious, healthy boy! We were so excited to meet him last weekend. I think he looks like Maddie when she was a baby but has thick, dark hair like Tim. He is so cute! We got to see a bunch of family and meet Hayes (Erica and Daniel's boy) this weekend too. Hayes is adorable - looks just like Daniel! We had a blast hanging out with everyone.

Then on October 23rd, Morgan and Marcus got engaged! Congratulations! We are all very excited for you two! Marcus surprised her and had all his and her family in town at a lake house that he rented for the weekend. We had a blast celebrating with them and Grey loved running around outside and eating all the candy, cookies and ice!

Welcome to the family Marcus (you were an honorary member before but it's official now :) ). Let the wedding planning begin!

Fun at the Gym

On Tuesday Grey and I met up with Alisha and Sonoma for some play time at WOGA Gym. Sonoma goes there frequently and is an expert - she immediately started playing on the equipment. It took Grey about 5-10 minutes to analyze everything and figure out what he was doing. As soon as he figured it out, though, there was no stopping him! He would run, run down the tumble tracks and plop face first into the red mats. I would kind of hold him in between my legs and jump real high on the trampoline and he thought it was fantastic!

There was a girl a little older than Grey in a ballerina outfit (tutu included) that he was enamored with. He would walk up to her and just look at her. He even followed her around for a little while and tried to do the things she was doing. It was too funny.

I was amazed when Grey grabbed the rings and then lifted his legs up for like 15 seconds. He is a strong kid!

The funniest part is the next day at school he was wearing a new shirt and his teacher asked him if he went shopping yesterday. Without hesitation he replied, "Yeah, with Mommy". What a goof!

Arboretum Day

We went to the arboretum again this year to see all the pumpkins. Grey got to run around everywhere and loved being able to go about at his own pace! There was a time that he did take a detour through the shrubs and there wasn't even a path :) This was my Dad's first time there and he hasn't stopped talking about it yet! He made sure to visit every inch of the place, including the pioneer exhibit. We thought he was just going to show Grey the teepee, but after 20 minutes of waiting and no sign of either one of them, I found them going through all 5 houses to see them all. It was a fun way to end my birthday weekend!

Catching up....again!

OK, I know 5 months is WAY too long for an update but things are never dull around here :) I am officially the worst blogger to-date!

So what have we been up to? A LOT! So I'll start out with the most exciting news first....Grey has a new "cousin" Sutton (Amanda and Patrick) who is just beautiful! She is so sweet and easy-going...ahhh what a joy! Erica and Daniel also had another "cousin", Hayes, who we are excited to meet! We are also going to have another new cousin (Noah) in October (Uncle Tim and Aunt Shelly). It will be so much fun with all the new cousins to play with!

This summer has been very eventful! Grey is getting so big! He moved to the toddler room at school and loves it! He gets to play outside everyday ("side" as he calls it) and comes home daily with new artwork. He's learned to march (he only lifts one leg :) ), go in circles and walk backwards. He also dances if you ask him to. It's too cute! I tried to video tape it but he gets too distracted by the camera. My favorite is when he sings. You can't make out what he is singing but he is pretty consistent with what he says so I know it must be some song he is trying to sing :) What it is, we may never know but that's okay! He recently started singing "I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas". He says "eat, eat, eat" clearly but the rest is a little fuzzy. He does his sign language for "eat" too when he sings it. I think he likes that he can sing that song :)

He is still obsessed with "puppies" and we even make trips to PetSmart just to see them. I think he says "puppy" about 500 times a day and somehow finds every puppy on t.v., in books, magazines, etc. He also loves to make animal noises (i.e. lions, cats, puppies, monkeys, roosters, ducks, horses). When we read books now, he takes our finger and points to an animal and says "That?" and we have to tell him what every animal is. At times I have to make up the name because I don't even know what it's suppose to be :)

He is starting to love baths now and will squirt me and Dan with his water bottle ("pow pow"). That seems to be his favorite bath toy these days - go figure. He also tells me and Dan to "sit" so we can throw balls to each other. He just laughs and laughs when we do this.

Here are a few pictures from the last few months.

Concentrating real hard on his art work.

Grey walking Morgan's dog Bailey. He thought it was great!

Grey messing up my hair. He would then move it out of my face, sweetly say "Hi" and do it all over again.

Dad and Grey at White Rock Lake on a HOT afternoon.

A few weeks ago Grey and I went to the Aquarium with some of our friends (Sutton, Beckett, Margo, Hannah, and Ryan). He was a little nervous at first but got the hang of it quickly. We went through the whole thing and I could tell he didn't want to leave so Amanda, Sutton, Grey and I went back into the main area that had all the birds and monkeys and look around again. He loved the monkeys! He also loved the fact that it was empty enough that he got to walk around at his own pace too...we zoomed by some animals and spent 10 minutes looking at others :) He crashed on the way home! I don't think I drove for more than 2 minutes before he fell asleep. We had a fun day and can't wait to take Dan back with us next time!

Labor Day weekend we went to Turtle Creek to feed the ducks. That was another fun day! He kept saying "Quack, quack" the whole time we were feeding the ducks. There was one FAT duck that would get real close to the creek bank, which Grey thought was great because then he could really throw the bread to him. The other ducks would come and go, but this one stayed around. He was smart :)

Grey also got his first "professional" haircut last Monday (aka. not a haircut by me). He liked playing with the toys while we waiting for his turn but as soon as we had to put him in the chair he started crying. Even a dum dum didn't work! He stayed in the chair the whole time but didn't ease up once on the crying. Hopefully next time he will like it more :) He looks handsome (and older) with the new hair do.

(Ahh, it feels good to kind of get caught up on this :) I will try to be better about updates!)
